The normal flow
- Identify whether the page asks for SMS possession or legal identity verification.
- Check that the mobile line can receive SMS and is registered to the same identity.
- Enter the name exactly in the format accepted by the carrier record.
- Stop after repeated failure and use the service's official foreigner or guest path.
- Never borrow another person's identity or verification code.

Receiving an SMS proves access to a number. Korean 본인인증 can additionally compare the carrier's subscriber record with name, birth date, nationality, or registration information. These are different checks.
Recognize the two verification layers
A basic SMS flow asks for a phone number, sends 인증번호, and checks the code. Services can offer this to overseas numbers if they support the country code. Identity verification goes further: a certified provider or mobile carrier compares submitted details with the legal subscriber record.
That is why a number can receive the message but fail 본인인증. A prepaid or travel SIM may not carry the required identity data. A Korean line registered under a company, family member, or different spelling may not match the form. Data-only eSIMs cannot receive the required SMS at all.
Read the fields before retrying
이름 is name, 생년월일 is date of birth, 통신사 is mobile carrier, and 내국인/외국인 separates Korean-national and foreigner processing. Enter information only on the official service or its clearly identified verification provider. A name-order or spacing mismatch can matter, but there is no single spelling trick that legitimately fixes every carrier record.
Repeated requests can trigger a temporary limit. After checking one careful attempt, use the service's help page. Do not share an SMS code with a stranger or use another person's identity. Verification gates can be tied to contracts, payments, age rules, or account recovery.
Use the intended fallback
Look for 외국인, 해외 휴대폰, 이메일, 비회원, or guest booking. Some services maintain a separate global site or app with overseas payment and passport-supported workflows. Others require a Korean mobile identity and simply cannot serve a short-term visitor account.
When the gate blocks a reservation or transport purchase, use an official counter, visitor version, hotel concierge, or another provider that explicitly supports your situation. A legitimate alternative is more reliable than trying to force a domestic identity flow that may also control later refunds and account access.
