The normal flow
- Install and test the app before the trip that depends on it.
- Confirm signup, SMS, and foreign-card support in your actual app version.
- Set the pickup at an accessible curb or marked taxi stand.
- Check the Korean destination and payment mode before requesting.
- Match the plate and vehicle details before boarding.
Terms to recognize

| 현장결제 | Pay in vehicle | Different from automatic in-app payment |
App availability and card acceptance change faster than general travel advice. Treat an app-store description as a starting point, then test the complete signup and payment flow before a late-night or airport journey.
Choose a flow your account can complete
Korea Tourism Organization's current visitor transport guide lists taxi-hailing options and marks services that accept foreign-issued cards. That does not mean every service, vehicle type, or account path behaves identically. Install the app, receive any required SMS, and open the payment screen before relying on it.
Kakao T offers many mobility services, but its signup and self-authentication rules can apply depending on the feature and account. Visitor-oriented services such as k.ride or globally available taxi partners can be simpler for short stays. Use the service that you can actually verify and pay with, not the one with the largest local brand name.
Place a pickup pin a car can reach
A precise GPS dot can still be a bad pickup point. Bus lanes, underground roads, divided streets, hotel service entrances, and no-stopping zones can put the driver on the wrong level or side. Move the pin to a visible curb, building entrance, or designated taxi stand and read the Korean pickup label before requesting.
At large stations and malls, follow the signed taxi area rather than choosing the center of the building. Share a short landmark only through the app's supported message function. Do not send private accommodation details in a public driver note.
Confirm the car and the payment once
After assignment, compare the vehicle plate, model or color, and driver information shown in the app. Korean license plates use Hangul as well as numbers; match the full plate. Do not board solely because a driver calls out a destination near a busy pickup line.
Check whether the trip uses automatic app payment or 현장결제 in the vehicle. If automatic payment is active, do not hand over the same card again at arrival. Keep the completed-trip screen until the charge is settled. When the app fails, move to an official taxi stand or staffed transport desk rather than accepting an unmarked solicitation.
